Since the last issue
On the night of 25 November 1120 the White Ship pushed out of Barfleur harbor with the heir to England aboard and a crew that had been drinking wine since dusk. They bent the oars trying to overtake the king's ship already out ahead in the dark, and they drove the hull onto the Quillebœuf rock, a rock every sailor in that harbor could have pointed to blindfolded. Roughly three hundred went into the water, and one butcher from Rouen clung to a spar until morning and lived to tell the whole thing. Matthew spent a pick on a defensive back.
He took Travis Hunter at 14.09, 19 spots early, at a position this league's lineup has nowhere to put. Michael Penix was sitting right there while he did it, and Ethan took Penix at 15.01, one boat gliding past another in the dark. Matthew's answer was Jalen McMillan at 15.02, 62 spots early, a receiver FantasyCalc ranks 204th. Josh Downs at 12.09 and Jonathon Brooks at 13.02 were the sober part of his evening, and that is the entire case for the defense. The White Ship had wine, black water and a rock nobody could see; Matthew had daylight, four hours per pick and a lineup page telling him exactly which positions start. Five reaches and no spar in sight.
The draft
Carson Beck went at 14.07, 66 spots early, and Michael Penix was right there the whole time. Ethan took Penix one pick into the next round at 15.01 and did not even need him. Peter paid a premium for the worse quarterback and called it conviction. Sucker.
Romeo Doubs at 14.08 with Michael Penix still on the board, and Ethan took Penix at 15.01 while Brandon was still admiring his receiver. His answer at quarterback came at 15.03: Kirk Cousins, 38 years old, 53 spots early. Scraps.
Woody Marks at 13.09, 44 spots early, a man FantasyCalc ranks 173rd, which is not a pick so much as a white flag Navid raised on himself.
Alex took Wan'Dale Robinson at 13.08, 17 spots early, while Rhamondre Stevenson sat there, and Carlos walked off with Stevenson at 13.10 while Alex was still admiring his work. That is seven receivers on a roster that starts three. Compulsive.
