Week 3, Sunday
On the plain at Cannae in the summer of 216 BC, a consul named Varro led the biggest army the Romans had ever put on one field against Hannibal's much smaller one, certain it could not lose. Hannibal let his own center sag backward, the legions charged into the gap like men chasing a sure thing, and his flanks closed behind them until they were packed too tight to swing a sword. Devante is Varro with a worse tight end.
Devante walked into Sunday at 79.3% and walked out at 0.5%, encircled like a legion in the pocket, with Lamar Jackson's 24.44 the only man still swinging and Kyle Pitts standing in the middle of it on 2. Pitt has already been scrubbed off the team name, and it did not help. Varro at least lost to Hannibal. Devante lost to Ethan, a man who started Alvin Kamara.
Where it stands
Shough and Fhough (Justin) vs Kraft YAC & Cheese (Brandon)
Jahmyr Gibbs went off for 41.4 and hauled Justin from 32.8% to 87.2% with Justin Jefferson's 5.2 riding on his back the whole way. Brandon fell from 67.2% to 12.8% behind Dalton Kincaid's 4.8, on a team still named after the other tight end who did this to him, and DeVonta Smith plays Monday night mostly to turn the lights off. Doomed.
Alex vs The Mayeflower (Carlos)
Drake Maye gave Carlos 5.76 on a 21.1 projection, George Kittle bailed water with 29.2, and The Mayeflower still slid from 48.1% to 39.9% with Saquon Barkley as the last man on deck. Alex is at 60.1% because Bijan Robinson's 35.3 did his thinking for him again, and he still has Rome Odunze and Kyle Monangai for Monday night, the first Rome in this newsletter with a real chance of surviving the day.
Navid vs Matthew
Matthew leads 112.92 to 102.04 and has still fallen from 25.5% to 9.6%, because everyone he started has already played while Navid, losing and somehow at 90.4%, has D'Andre Swift and Colston Loveland left for Monday night. De'Von Achane gave Matthew 1.7 on a 16.4 projection. MATTHEW IS WINNING AND HAS A 9.6% CHANCE.
