Since the last issue
In 53 BC Crassus, the richest man in Rome, marched seven legions across the Euphrates because a local chieftain named Ariamnes swore he knew a faster road, and the faster road was open desert. Parthian horse archers ringed the legions and emptied a camel train of spare arrows into them until no man could hold a shield up; Crassus was killed at the parley and his head was carried onstage that evening as a prop in a tragedy about a man destroyed by his own blindness. Nobody in the Senate could explain how a fortune that large bought a decision that stupid. Matthew would have thanked the guide and asked where the next desert was.
Then at 6.09 he went 19 spots early for Jameson Williams with Fernando Mendoza still available, and Ethan, who has now walked off with two men Matthew declined, took Mendoza at 7.01. Tyler Warren at 5.02 was fine, which here is like finding the one legionary who still had his shield. Three of his seven picks are reaches, and he closed by taking A.J. Brown, age 29, which is what buying used looks like when you tell yourself it is a plan. Crassus at least had a paid liar steering him into the sand. Matthew had the entire board lit up in front of him and four hours a pick. Pathetic.
The draft
Sam LaPorta at 6.03, 20 spots early, with Fernando Mendoza sitting right there in the open. Ethan took Mendoza at 7.01 and did not have to rush. Add Rashee Rice at 5.08, 10 spots early, and that is two reaches from a man who keeps paying for dinner and watching the commissioner drive off with the date.
TreVeyon Henderson cost Devante a 21-spot reach at 6.05, with Javonte Williams still sitting there untouched by anyone. Emeka Egbuka at 5.06 proves Devante can read a board, which means the next pick was a decision rather than an accident. Loser.
Carnell Tate at 5.09 was the fourth receiver in a row off that board, and Breece Hall was still sitting there for Carlos to take one pick later. Navid followed it by reaching 15 spots for Quinshon Judkins at 6.02, which is how a mistake becomes a habit.
