Week 4, Sunday
In September 1066 Harold Godwinson destroyed a Norwegian army at Stamford Bridge, then marched what was left of his men two hundred and fifty miles south to meet William of Normandy. He would not wait for the rest of his levies, so he took the field above Hastings short of men, tired and outnumbered, and by nightfall he was dead and England belonged to a Frenchman. Matthew read that and took it as lineup advice, the dumbass.
Matthew is 7% to beat Peter, and his expected 132.3, the 29.96 he banked on Thursday included, has to chase Peter's 195.6 like Harold's footmen chasing cavalry down a hill. Peter brings Brock Purdy at 24 projected; Matthew's best is Dak Prescott at 21.5 and his weakest starter is Keenan Allen at 0, out, still in the lineup, still holding a spot in the shield wall. Harold at least had an excuse: two invasions in three weeks and a march the length of England. Matthew had a phone, a free Saturday and a bench, and he left the gate open for the Normans anyway. Last Sunday Navid fucked him, and this Sunday he is handling it personally.
The matchups
Shough and Fhough (Justin) vs The Mayeflower (Carlos)
Carlos is 57% to beat Justin with an expected 164.3 behind Jordan Love, and he is starting Deebo Samuel at 9.3 one week after Carlos left 40.3 on his bench, so the bench is clearly where he hides the talent. Justin banked 13.2 on Thursday and still sits at 43%, with Jahmyr Gibbs projected for 24.7 and Blake Corum at 7 hanging off the lineup like an anchor. This is the same Justin who took Trey Lance at pick 287, and the anchor is the smartest thing on his roster.
Kraft YAC & Cheese (Brandon) vs Navid
Brandon was 73% before Thursday and is 65% now, so his expected 186.5, Patrick Mahomes and Joe Burrow included, shrank while he sat on the couch and watched other men play. Navid banked 37.52 on Thursday and climbed to 35% behind Josh Allen at 26.1, and Brandon, holding two franchise quarterbacks, is already sweating through his shirt. Coward.
